Day 1Travel from Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, we depart on Safari driving north to the Samburu National Reserve. Our long drive takes us through the Kenyan highlands to the remote Samburu County. We arrive at Samburu Sopa Lodge, in time for lunch and a break after our long drive. We then we embark on our first game drive in Samburu National Reserve, situated along the Ewaso Ng’iro River. The river attracts and supports the wildlife of Samburu in this otherwise arid part of Kenya. We drive through the park in our pop-up roof safari vehicle taking in the grasslands, river forests and acacia trees while searching for wildlife.Dinner and accommodation at Samburu Sopa Lodge.

Day 2Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

On this day we will have early and mid morning game drives and late afternoon game drive as Samburu gets very hot and is uncomfortable to spend the entire day game driving. The reserve is home to lions, cheetahs and leopards, elephants, hippos and buffalos as well as Grevy’s zebras, oryx, giraffes, gerenuks, among others. The park is also rich in birdlife, hosting over 350 species. Samburu is one of the two areas where Elsa the lioness, of Born Free fame, was raised by George and Joy Adamson. Another highlight is encountering the traditional Samburu people, with their indigenous culture that still follows ancient practices. We will return to the lodge for the night.

Day 3Travel from Samburu National Reserve to Aberdare National Park

On this morning we will have a pre-breakfast game drive before returning to the lodge for a hot breakfast. After, we will travel up into the cooler Aberdare Mountains, making our way to our next destination. We will stop for lunch at the Aberdare Country Club which is also the base hotel for The Ark where we will be staying while at Aberdare national park. Shuttle transfers to The Ark will then happen after lunch. Watch the animals that frequently visit the lively waterhole beside the lodge, from a series of viewing decks and areas at different levels. Spotting animals at the floodlit saltlick and watering hole into the night, with common visitors including elephants, buffalos, rhinos and even leopards.Dinner and overnight at The Ark.

Day 4Aberdare National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park

On this morning, you will have an early departure from The Ark before the shuttle drives you down to Aberdare Country Club where you will meet your Safari guide. Leave for Lake Nakuru, one of the Great Lakes of East Africa’s Rift Valley.Lake Nakuru is often referred to as the pink lake for it’s great masses of pink flamingos and the home of the white and black rhinos and about 350 different species of birds; the Ornithological Paradise.Dinner and overnight stay at Lanet Matfam Resort.

Day 5Lake Nakuru to Nairobi

After breakfast, proceed for a game drive in the Rhino sanctuary which is home to a colony of about 25 white and black Rhinos. Predators are also resident in the Park. Later, we leave for Nairobi where the Safari ends.
